About The Fish:
The fish is guaranteed Ethoxyquin-free because like all the Honest Kitchen products, it is 100% human-grade. They use only food grade, all natural antioxidants for freshness. Their Icelandic Haddock is wild caught using a line and hook, in the cold clean waters off the coast of Iceland. Their Blue Whiting is wild-caught in the waters of Scandinavia and the Arctic. It is one of the most abundant fish stocks in the semi-pelagic water masses of the northeast.
Understanding that they are utilizing our planet’s natural resources by using wild-caught fish (which is more environmentally sound than farm-raised fish), a portion of the profits from every box of Zeal, will be donated directly to several Marine Conservation Initiatives, including The Nature Conservancy, Blue Ocean Institute and World Wildlife Fund.
Why does it cost so much?:
The cost of fish is much more expensive than the other proteins Honest Kitchen uses, such as chicken, turkey and beef. They are extremely conscious of our environmental paw print, so only sustainable caught, human grade fish would do. Honest Kitchen works closely with their suppliers to keep costs in check as much as possible and as the volumes increase they may have opportunities for cost savings which we will of course pass on to our customers.
